Below is the itinerary for this wonderful tour of sunny Sicily:
1) St. Angelo Muxaro- the ancient Sican city which dates back to pre-history where artefacts from before the 12th century b.c. have been discovered. This small quaint Sicilian town (pop. 2000) is situated about 600 meters atop a mountain overlooking the beautiful Platani valley with an incredible view of the Sicilian countryside. Here we'll find friendly town folk, natural beauty, history, and art followed by a stop at a local Sicilian bakery that uses locally grown almonds and pistachios in many of their pastries.
2) Eraclea Minoa- a beautiful site overlooking the Mediterranean Sea where a colony of Greeks and Spartans established a city around the 6thcent. b.c. There we'll see the only Greek theatre yet found in the province of Agrigento, along with the recently uncovered Roman urban quarter with rests of Roman houses. There is also a small museum housing most of the artefacts uncovered there. But what is really breath-taking is the natural setting where this Greek and Roman settlement is situated.

3) Licata- The landing site of general George Patton in 1943 which led the way for the allied troops, liberating Sicily from Nazi oppression and forcing their retreat. We would actually set foot on the beach where the troops landed and even enter a Nazi bunker, one of a few that still exist in Sicily. Afterward, there are visits to magnificent 18th cent. baroque churches with marvellous 18th cent. art-work inside.
4) Sciacca- This beautiful port town overlooks the Mediterranean and is known for its artistic Sicilian ceramics, the therapeutic thermal baths, and a rich history of Sicilian culture.
5) San Leone Beach- The tropical-like and delightful sea-side resort of Agrigento has an inviting boardwalk between rows of palm trees, shops and the Mediterranean Sea, sometimes referred to as the African Sea. A fishing port with fresh fish markets add a touch of splendour to the atmosphere.
6) Agrigento- This city was one of the largest Greek colonies during the "golden age" of Hellenistic times around the 5th cent. b.c. The Greek writer, Pindar, wrote of Agrigento as being "the most beautiful city of mortal men". Situated on a hill, Agrigento also overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and the Valley of the Temples- archaeological area of Greek temples, surrounded by olive and almond trees, has gained world-wide distinction. The historic centre of Agrigento also offers the visitor an abundance of history, art, and culture mixed with modern-day fashion and design.
